A sassafras tree is growing in the St. Nicholas garden. The plan is to transplant it when we pick the carrots in early June.
After I wrote this, I found a couple other seedlings growing in the grass nearby. I wonder if a little group of seeds was dropped by a bird. The seedlings in the grass, unfortunately, will probably end up getting mowed.
